Nightmarish flight from Israel to the US
Seven passengers hospitalized after a Newark-bound United Airlines flight from Israel experiences turbulence and high winds.

Seven passengers were hospitalized on Friday after a Newark-bound flight from Israel experienced turbulence and high winds, The Hill reported.

United Flight 85 was headed to Newark, New Jersey, from Tel Aviv, but was diverted to Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, New York, due to what officials said were dangerous winds.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that the flight was forced to land following “a passenger medical emergency,” which was reported by the crew. The FAA will investigate the incident.

New Windsor EMS Chief Michael Bigg told news outlets that seven passengers from the plane went to a local hospital, adding that the passengers complained of nausea, motion sickness and chest pain due to turbulence.

No serious injuries were reported.

United Airlines said in an emailed statement to The Hill that Flight 85 landed at Stewart International Airport “after reported high winds at Newark.”

“One passenger deplaned due to a medical incident, and a few other customers were seen by medical personnel for possible motion sickness,” the statement continued. “The flight refueled and continued to Newark.”

Anyone have ideas for me? my daughter flew to israel for sem on an aa direct flight with the return on apr 9. Obviously that was canceled. They rebooked for apr 9 on Iberia via madrid. Got a call on friday from aa that the tlv-mad portion was canceled. No real options to rebook, either too close to pesach or overnight connection in europe which I'm not excited about. When I spoke to a higher up in aa, was told that Iberia actually canceled the flight on feb 9. Had I been notified then I probably would have been able to find a different flight at a somewhat reasonable price, as opposed to the upwards of $2200 I'm seeing now. Any ideas to get aa to either properly compensate me or book her on a viable ticket? Thanks

No space on the LY to MAD that IB codeshares?
What about BA via LHR?

Ask them to rebook on LY via ATH, that has worked for me and others.

For some reason, they refuse to rebook on LY via MAD and LHR.

I have had IB move to LY for IB ticket
Also had AA move to BA (for both segments as they are operating to TLV)

AA will rebook on BA, but if you want LY it can only be to ATH.

for now they rebooked on ly thru bcn on apr 4. Should I try thru athens? her program officially runs thru apr 8, or just take what they gave me?

For flights after 04/06, ATH should be easy to get.

All of them are leaving TLV in the afternoon so no connections to North America without overnight layover.
Sidenote: BA and KLM are making a quick stop in Cyprus for crew swap on the inbound to TLV.

Did a preliminary look at flights to NY for my sister-in-law in July. There were no flights that tempted versus the El Al direct for $1400. (Wouldn't save $250 for a 20 hour layover in Europe plus budget airlines.)
I knew she was considering a stop in Chicago, so I switched to multi-city and checked TLV-NYC-ORD-TLV, and got the same flights plus direct to Chicago for $1200... (TLV-JFK, LGA-ORD, ORD-JFK(5h)-TLV). I mean, I always knew it was all fake prices but this is ridiculous.

Im in chicago and need to book a flight to TLV. If I book it as one ticket ORD-JFK-TLV with Jet Blue and El Al its $1600. If I book as separate its $127 and $1063. Can I book as separate tickets and then connect them after so our bags go through?

If it is separate tickets ymwv in getting the luggage checked through but your biggest issue is missing the connection and not being protected.

Thank you for the prompt response. Who would I contact Jet Blue or El Al?
Alaska has award flights one way (JFK-TLV) of the RT that I need- would you recommend booking so as not to lose that leg assuming I'm ok with the layover/flight delay risk from ORD-JFK? And then book a paid flight back or wait for something better?
