What so good about Chareidim that they can afford to ask double? Sure it's $65 a pound and not per box -2 lb?
They're extremely thin. They probably do have double the labor per pound.
What is labor, 10% of the production cost?
Certainly not 100% but neither 10%. Much more than that when talking of handmade matzos.
Talking from inside knowledge? Or speculation, I personally have no idea...
Have you ever visited a bakery??
Yes.
So you'd know how much labor goes into that. And nowadays many hire frum men/women instead of what used to be only Russian women.
They're extremely thin.
I think it's closer to 100% than to 10%.
And yes, it's per lb, not -2lb box.
I personally have no idea...
What's the logic?
All the consumables (flour, water, and wood) are cheap, but every matzah can pass through 10 hands before making it into a box.
