Amex Platinum Master Thread

I currently  Have the American Express gold card.
I have an upgrad offer for 100k, am I better off using Dan's link to apply for it and close my gold card? Or is it better if I just upgrade my gold card to the platinum card with a 100 K bonus offer? Without the need to close any card?
 What's your guys take?

 Not sure why I held the gold card for 7 years. It literally is a waste of $250. Not much perks.

I'll gladly do that, just curios if this will trigger any flags by double dipping and taking two 100k bonuses. Or better will I actually get both bonuses?

I signed up for a business plat card which had a 150k offer after 15k spend. I wasn’t sure if it had a 3 months or 6 months time frame to complete the spending. I chatted with an agent and the agent informed me it had a  6 months time frame. When I called up a few weeks later to get the exact date of the 6 month period, the agent told me it was only 3 months and that time frame was already over. I tried twice to get a rep who would honor what the Amex chat rep informed me with no luck.
 Anyone ever had this or a similar event ?
 What would you suggest doing ?

Escalate, and request them to have a supervisor review the call recording from your first call

I don't have any concrete travel plans, although I do travel to Israel from the USA about once a year.
I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of the points programs, so I'm looking for guidance as to where to park the miles.
Otherwise, I'll just get gift cards, I guess.

My question is re the specifics. What about merchant GCs? How much does Amex know (and care)?
