Yup :)

It was definitely popular at the time CD sang it at HASC. Guess it faded over time.
Which Hasc?

He's redoing Chaim David's Seven sheperds? I sing that song every seudah in the sukkah. I hope it finally becomes popular.

I love that song, hope they do it justice

I should just wait for the encyclopedia Euclid to answer, but I'd assume 17, the Jerusalem Experience, though I don't see that song in the track list

My apologies, I thought he sang it as HASC 17; I don't know why I thought that.

Ah ok I figured out where my mind made that connection. This song was on the Hebron's Song of Songs album, which was a popular compilation album released around the same time as HASC 17 (2003ish). So I listened to them in tandem and my mind has that connection. Brains are weird.

Either way - it was popular back then :)

this doesn't make me more excited for the new album. maybe i just have to stop living in the past and come to terms with the fact that Jewish music (including Abie) has changed.

Interesting. This is the first negative "review of the preview" that I heard.  Everyone else is saying something like "wow sounds great". Could be that's the Stockholm syndrome speaking though ;)

(I try not to formulate an opinion about music until I listen to it many times over the span of months. As with anything creative, I need to give myself time to "learn" and adjust to the new creation.)

This trailer didn't excite me, but I tend to hold judgement. It's rare a trailer will excite me anyway. Shloime Gertner's Nissim trailer was an exception, just the part of Shma Bni they played had me hooked, I played it on repeat. So good.

I agree with Euclid and Yehuda57 that you can't learn too much from a trailer. There were a few points that I did learn from this trailer.

One, and the only negative point - there are less brand new songs on this album than I expected, which is a letdown. I was expecting 10, or almost 10, new displays of Abie brilliance. Doesn't make me not be excited, it just changes when I expect from the album.

Two - Abie's singing is exceptional, perhaps better than his previous albums. One of my highlights of Journeys is Abie singing. Many people initially scoff at me when I say it, but bottom line is he has an incredible talent at singing, and I don't think anyone else could sing his songs better than him.

Three - the sound quality is phenomenal. Many modern CDs seem to have a muted sound, whether it be from poor mixing, poor mastering, or other reasons.  The sound on the trailer is so crisp and fresh, it makes me really excited for the album.

I counted 10 new songs out of 14 tracks

I'm not saying it is going to be a bad album. it's just a new sound for abie that i'm not used to. I said the same thing about Journey's 4 (and my opinion hasn't changed on that)

Cool! I didn't count, I just assumed it would have the same number of tracks as the last 3 albums.

I'm assuming that he sings more, but they are just trying to highlight the guest vocalists in the trailer.

Most of this did not have a Journeys feel IMO.
