Yes. As I said it's part of the executive branch of government. We have a court system which is it's own branch, which provides a balance of power so the president/doj can't just jail etc people they don't like.

The AG can report to Congress if he feels the president is abusing authority and there is a system of impeachment. But the idea that someone who happens to be politically unaligned or even an enemy of the president cannot be investigated is a travesty of Justice. Either way I see nothing wrong with the president telling the AG to investigate someone if it's not solely politically or personally motivated

No one said those against the president cant be investigated. That should be the AG's call. Not only should it be the AG's call but under our laws it is his/her call and not the president.

I agree that's a problem, but that's not the way the Justice system is supposed to work. Does that mean nobody can be investigated in case the one leading the investigation is just doing it out of bias?

The AG decides who to investigate. They should not investigate individuals based on presidents preference. No AG would never get confirmed if they did.
