I just booked yesterday evening at about 530pm LY EWR-TLV in Y on qantas with miles at 42k each way and now i see it went down to 37.8. my flight going is available but the return is no longer available. Any suggestions on getting it at the current price? Maybe calling and asking for an adjustment since I literally booked it as the system was rolling out? Also, Dan mentioned that the taxes should be about $9.60 for redemptions. I got charged $57 a ticket? Is that the illegal tax charging Dan mentioned? How do i determine whats legal and whats not?

The way back [I believe] taxes are in the 50 range.

You can try going calling and getting it adjusted but canceling will possibly result in not getting back a availability.

Thanks. I was charged $57 each way. Is that high?

I texted them and they just keep saying "fares are subject to change." Im trying to explain that this isn't a regular fare that changes every day. Called and the hold time is 1.5hrs. not sure its worth it for the 9,000 points a ticket but might try. Thanks.

Scratch that, I was charged $57 total each ticket. So I guess it makes sense if the way back is about 50. Thanks for your help.

I did that but they came out to 98 dollars a ticket so I wasnt sure which ones Qantas should be excluding since they were clearly excluding some of them.

I booked ly business from jfk 2 am monday morning and now they casually cancelled the flight and rebooked 5 hours earlier from newark  at 9:15 pm which I can't take. What are my options?
Qantas only will rebook on newark flight sunday night or monday night but neither works (becuase of weddings in ny and in israel).
Would LY rebook me on 1 pm from jfk? or any other options?

U can try ELAL, whomever ever you speak to at EY or Qantas, explain to them that JFK and EWR are in the same city technically.

sorry for not clarifying, they wouldnt book JFK because no mileage seats available in business on the flight at 1:00. I was asking if ELAL would put me on that flight anyhow (as revenue) because they cancelled me. Qantas said they have no access to it...

Booked a few days ago through Qantas ElAl Business still for the 78k rate, for which I transferred 65k Amex points. Even got the additional points, so I have 15,600 points in my account. (Thanks Dan for all the info!).

Does it make sense that I can't select a seat? My booking on ElAl doesn't show that option, and I went tor their seat selection site and I get an error when entering my info. Is this typical? I haven't flown ElAl in over 20 years.

BTW, as the National Airline for a high tech country, ElAl's website is the pits.
