IIRC, my main argument as to the *harms* of such a policy was for *children's* publications, and to a slightly lesser extent, women's publications. The excerpts above are not about that at all.
Your “main argument” followed your general statement:
Because I believe VERY strongly that not only should pictures be allowed, significant effort should be made to ensure proper representation of women and girls in deeper ways than just recipes and cheesy stories.
which was talking about magazines in general. Perhaps that wasn’t the main crux of the argument that ensued, but it’s very much the underlying nekuda as I understood it.

I'm not so passionate about Mishpacha and such magazines, it's mostly the women's and children's magazines I care strongly about.

ETA: And if you look at the examples I gave before and after, they were from *my daughter's* reading.

Ok fair enough.
Now why do you say
The excerpts above are not about that at all.
?

I assume they’d agree that’s infinitely more disturbing in the women magazines too. Maybe you think they should’ve explicitly differentiated?

"At all" was too strong.

I think there is a huge differentiation to be made, both in the potential harms, and the halachic or hashkafic reasons to not show pictures. Putting Mishpacha and Circle in the same category is nonsensical to me.

@mevinyavin I’m curious if you know the author. He seems to be a Talmid of Rabbi Yitzchok Berkowitz? Seems that this book represents Rabbi Berkowitzs approach.

If you were the owner/publisher of Mishpacha, Ami (same category?) or a major Jewish publication, what would you policy be towards this?

I believe that outside of a Chassidish publication (e.g Der Yid) where they may believe the ban to be Hashkafically correct, the others base their policy on financials and which side of the argument will give them broader acceptance and numbers.

I think a major factor is that it's significantly easier to have a blanket exclusion policy than to constantly decide which photos are over whatever line.

I'm not sure about the latter being correct. Be that as it may, MOST of RB's talmidim come from Aish or the Jerusalem Kollel, and I spend no time in the same room as any of them. The talmidim I know are those that live in or near the community. (The exception being the Stilerman family of Rabonim (there's a bunch), which I know because I am in the chaburah of one of them.

Very nice foreword. Was his last paragraph very intentional in its specificness?

I assume you mean the second to last paragraph. Was wondering about that as well.

Noticed this (last paragraph) taking issue with something similar:

Very nice. I guess it must be representative of his shita, then. (Was impossible to judge from an excerpt - and as a student of the JK, there was no way I would know for sure.)

What are you asking - if it isn't really for us?

Not sure if it's the right thread, on a frum stores website they had a couple options of currency to pay with, in USD it would cost around $135 and in the other currencies converted the lowest was around $105 usd based on today's rates, feels wrong especially being a yid just curious the halacha aspect and others opinions.

That last line is weird. It’ll probably make an even bigger scene and an even bigger chillul Hashem.

I guess it's worth it to teach those fanatics a lesson, in the RCA's view. (btw, every page of this book you post completes the picture more :P)

My impression on this is that he's trying to elicit a response that 'hilul Hashem' would override any issur in these scenarios.
Didn't work out for him because the Rabbi said the guy would need to leave the plane.

Anyone read 'The Great Z'manim Debate' by Rabbi Ahron Notis?

Looked through it over Shabbos and it's very interesting. He puts forward a compelling and impressive case that its absurd to still consider the position of Rabenu Tam regarding shkia as viable, since its been utterly shlugged up fot centuries now, specifically as pointed out by the Gra and the Shu'a Harav. In the era of ר״ת they simply didn't have the astronomical information that we have today. And at at the very least anything lkula should be discarded.

Random quote:
I wonder if this book will incur public backlash.
Lol I don’t think this will help him if it does
