Alliant does not hard pull for membership or the Shared Secured Loan.
"Alliant will pull a soft credit inquiry as part of the primary applicant’s background check. When applying online, Alliant will pull a hard credit inquiry specifically for a joint owner  "

I just wanna make sure I understand it correctly , they will do a hard pull only for a joint owner but not for the primary account owner . right ?

That's for a checking account application,  maybe they will do a hard pull for a different type of account.

Great!

A small Installment loan might indeed bring the score higher but when lenders manually review your credit report won't they start thinking why I needed a $500 loan,  won't that have a bad impression?

IMHO it wouldn't hurt to tell the underwriter the truth, that you don't have a need for an installment loan, but you know it looks good on your credit.  That is, if you're on the phone with them, like recon.
