JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

Don't go to a restaurant within 6 months of it being open. Who remembers street's kitchen?

G7 looks like a fun place but horrible run
Its a pity, as its the same owner as fuego and you would think they know how to run a big place

In general, KM has become a more lenient hashgacha. ORB has gotten much stricter over the last few years.
Wow. I know many who unknowingly assume the opposite about these two.
Change in administration? Clientele?
Both. ORB overhauled admin, and are trying to cater to the frummer crowd who has moved in over the last few years. KM, I don't know why they have gotten more lenient, but it's been trending in the direction for a little bit now.
I wouldn’t be too fast to draw conclusions about the integrity of any kashrus agencies based on random forum “experts” talk. In particular when there are political agendas involved. Do your own research, speak to local rabbanim.

I don't know where political agendas came into play here, but +1 on the rest of it. Always check with LOR who are in line with your hashkafos.

(My posts were not to knock the KM, c"v. I just find that people coming to FL generally have no clue what the hashgacha standards are for the local certifications, and tend to assume things which aren't necessarily true. DYOR.)

Checked out Ostrow, Asiatiko, and Street Hibachi

Ostrow, great service, interesting setting and pricing is fair, but otherwise nothing to return for, appetizers were good (steak tartare & lyonnaise salad), but  lamb Paupiette and Chicken Morels were very dry and not so tasty to the point we didn't want to finish them. (Truffle mashed potatoes were delicious, but that's about it.) Desert was good, but nothing to write home about.

Asiatiko: Always amazing, Beef Ramen 8/10 Sakuradon 9/10 Corn Ribs 10/10 Gyozas 5/10 Popcorn Chicken 8/10 Hot Pot 10/10. Unfortunately the prepare the Nest in advance and it was soggy and a but freezer burnt and no more fresh fruit.

Street Hibachi: didn't have to wait too long for them to start, same tricks as any other Hibachis, but still nice and food tasty, they allow you to share a main for $10 more so we did that (and they gave each a pretty generous amount) and ordered a few dishes from their sit down menu: Som Tom very fresh and different, Chirashi Donburi very good (like a poke bowl), Beef bun was a far cry Street Kitchen's Bao buns when they have them.

I've heard a few poor or mediocre reviews on Ostrow recently. Sad.

You didn't rate hibachi.

I've heard a few poor or mediocre reviews on Ostrow recently. Sad.

You didn't rate hibachi.

A shame, because I saw Olivia Ostrow working hard the entire evening, not sure why food quality would change (especially for someone aiming for a Michelin).

Street Hibachi is 7.5 - sort of like SoHo, but more ambiance (and Hibachi). They have much better dishes and far more variety of flavors than your Brooklyn/Lakewood Chinese place, but it's not Street Kitchen (nor was I expecting that). I would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to change things up, they have many interesting dishes, and if not doing Hibachi they have nice seating outdoors overlooking the water.  Was on the way to FLL and it worked out perfectly.

This place just opened was there today very cool experience food was great. $77/per adult all you can eat
My son went there tonight. He said they have 3 buffet sections one of salads, one cold fish, and one of hot side dishes such as stir fry vegetables. They give you a medallion that one side is green and one red and if you want the easier to stop at your table you turn up the green side and the easier cuts some meat for you. He said they had a nice variety of meat and that it was very good. He sent me a picture of the place empty and said it got busier but never full and that it was a huge place.
Feelings don't care about your facts

I haven't gone to Fuego in years, owner was very rude to me once, f&*#@ that but beyond that, it's just a party joint, hard pass.

$77 all you can eat meat isn't so cheap. It's $20 a lb meat and the average adult doesn't eat more than 1lb

Restaurants charge a lot bc they can but you're also paying for prep work and kitchen staff

I charge $150-175 a wine dinner hahaha 🤣

Is there anything to do in South Florida besides eating at restaurants? Reading through 714 pages of comments, doesn't seem so.  ::)

Did anyone ever stay at the Landon in Bay Harbor?  Looking for honest reviews
@Minyan I stayed there a couple times when I wanted to be in the neighborhood for S/YT, but it was 4 years ago, so don't know if it's changed since then.  I was eating elsewhere, just looking for a clean, quiet, comfortable, not-too-expensive place to sleep, and it fit the bill. Got a discount by saying The Shul.  Staff was friendly and helpful.  Room faced the back, don't know if the street side is noisy.  Only drawback was the refrigerator which had a light that couldn't be inactivated.  If you're eating all your meals out, you might be okay with that.  There's no elevator and I was on the 2nd floor, but they offered to carry my bags up the stairs.

Thank you!  Sounds like a budget motel.  Looking for something a little nicer.

I was there during my pre-DDF life. So much I didn't know then!  Never tried the magnet trick.

I've known lots of budget motels, and this is not a budget motel.  But it's also not elegant, spacious or luxurious, has no breathtaking views and few amenities.

What brand hotel would you compare it to?  The Altair and Grand Beach are expensive the nights we want to go.

Those both advertise that they're luxury hotels, while the Landon describes itself as quaint and boutique, so probably it's not a style that would appeal to you for this trip.
