And it's official

https://apnews.com/article/abortion-supreme-court-decision-854f60302f21c2c35129e58cf8d8a7b0

Difficult to see anything positive coming from this.

Also so very ironic coming just days after the Court ruled that States don't have the right to decide on limiting gun access

What's ironic? Only 1 of them is a constitutionally protected right.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

From a religious perspective, how can paving the way for states to ban/limit murder, which many states will follow through on, be anything other than positive?
Care to explain why it's ironic?

That's not what the court ruled.

Depends on each of the states I guess. Guess we're lucky that we mostly live in liberal states

Some of the laws proposed in some of the states have banned all abortions, even if the mother's life is at stake.  IDK if any of these have passed.  Yet.

In the limited cases that a religious Jew would be permitted/required to abort nearly all states are likey to allow it. In the an instance where the is a specific state would be at odds with that, they can simply go to a neighboring state.
If the Supreme court would have issued a ruling defining the status of a fetus, it would potentially be a reason for concern, however it seems highly unlikely that will ever happen.
As such from an Orthodox Jewish perspective there can only be cause for celebration here.

You don’t expect legal hurdles to just going to a neighboring state?

https://lailluminator.com/2022/06/24/louisianas-trigger-law-to-restrict-abortion-goes-into-effect-with-supreme-court-ruling/

In Louisiana, abortion is now illegal in almost in all cases. State law only allows for exceptions if pregnant woman’s life is in danger from a physical illness or a pregnant woman could otherwise sustain “serious, permanent impairment of a life-sustaining organ.”  ....[Women] whose life might be at risk because of suicidal thoughts or another mental illness cannot use those conditions to access an abortion in Louisiana. A pregnancy that results from rape or incest is also not eligible.

First, I'm not sure why all of you seem to care that a bunch of unwanted babies will be born in states such as Louisiana and Texas. You don't know one way or another any of the people that this affects. You aren't aware that these people exist, will never meet any of them, and certainly wouldn't be willing to ensure their welfare.

Second, this is entirely a battle between evangelical xians and secular society. We don't fall into either group, and neither outcome is going to be consistent with our halacha. The only way I can look at it is that one outcome allows us to practice in accordance with our halacha and the other may not. If past history has taught us anything it is that when the rule of law is based on religion we do not benefit.

For those who don't understand the irony I mentioned, look up the words supreme court and gun. Their decision was that no State should have the right to limit a person's ability to carry guns. However, today's decision says that the States do have the right to limit a person's access to abortions. Nothing could make it more transparent that the supreme court is simply voting on issues based on their personal politics, without shame.

This isn't any more true now than it was the last time you posted this.
