Well it’s actually Bobov I’m talking about and they “specifically” eat dairy the fifth night. The Rebbe is a descendant of the Baal Hatanya.
That’s what his grandmother, who was the Lubavitcher einekel served to celebrate. Blintzes to be precise.

Spoke to 2 Bobover friends and they both never heard of a specific minhag to eat dairy on 5th night for R Shlomo's Zeide the Alter Rebbe's release. More details please?

Oh wow what a trip. Spoke to a third Bobover friend who confirmed.

In short - the 5th night was celebrated with milchig blintzes (other nights of chanuka were pareve, fish kugel etc, - as it's chanuka they had milchig for the special ma'achul), however in such a year where 5th night is erev shabbos they had blintzes from non-milchiks (but not blintzes davka just a special ma'achul to show uniqueness of day).

The Beirech Moshe of Satmar being a double orphan actually grew up by this Bubby, wonder if he too celebrated that day with Blintzes.

There is a story told by the FR about the milchig delicacies served at the family לאטקעס אוונט. Were those not often around the 5th night?

Asked a Satmere (learnt by the Rebbezchisogeinlaini in the 5720's so maybe it was after his time) and he hadn't heard of it, EliJelly did you hear anything?

If it turns out Satmer post Beirach doesn't I'm reserving the line:
Bobov "stole the yerisha"! :)

Lol no way a satmar would know what the Beirech or even The Rebbe ate for supper. Even if they would, they would only copy that if it's truly delicious. I just speculated how much the blintzes were really stressed on.

(Yerisha of Reb Sholom Eliezer? What was there to Yarshen? ;) He was known for his extremely Poshit hanhagah, although he was highly revered throughout Hungary, especially given he was the only son of Sanzer rov in Hungary and lived up until the war. Reb Shlomo Bobover famously said it was here in America when he learned from the Hungarian chassidim what a big zeide he had.)

If the blintzes aren't in viewing distance of the rebetzins cheesecake then it takeh shouldn't be stressed...

Exactly! Once Bobov took the blintzes there's nothing left!  ;D

In the spirit of the topic I’ll ask the Lubavitchers: am I the only Lubavitcher who feels like this thread got hijacked?

It was all about serving special dishes in honor of the Alter Rebbe's Yom Hageulah.

Anyway, back on track. Next question (midnight madness question). Is there a reason why Lubavitchers don't do full haircuts? In contrast to other chassidim where removal of bodily מותרות/קליפות is more stressed on. I remember being in 770 Sukkos and everybody had full grown hair. I'm obviously not asking on those who keep it for style but even the most fiery Lubavitcher Chassidim seem to grow it way larger than other chassidim.

The main thing is that there's no chup.

Here's something I wrote about the niggun:

Yehuda57, I really liked that piece, thanks for sharing!

Is there anywhere I can read/see more about the "Chassidic Legend" of the source of Haneiros Halalu?

https://www.chassidus.com/audio/nigun/08-04-Haneros-Halu-lu-Heichal-Neginah.htm

I asked the speaker in this clip (Rabbi Mendel Lipsker) and said he doesn't have a definitive source and it's "מפי השמועה"

Hence the phrasing "legend" and self publishing (chabad.org, lmoshul, wouldn't post it without a source.)

What sefer (sforim) did/will you buy for Hei Teves?

IANAL(ubavitcher) but a local shliach mentioned to me he needs another set of Shulchan Aruch for his Beis Chabad so that's what I've gotten so far, maybe I'll see something interesting among your picks for myself...

Wait, @ExGingi liked this? Without a IANALY FTFY followup?

I had full faith and trust in the DDF community that I have trained all well enough for someone to pick up the torch.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Excellent thanks!
Full disclosure - I already have a drop of familiarity with the entry gate of the World of Toras Chabad (and many wonderful worlds does it indeed contain!)
I've been through Tanya (however I don't think it's been through me yet, as they say) and found the Tanya Hamaor Shebatorah to be fantastic.
The Likutei sichos, years ago I picked up the first 4 volumes and was amazed and re-amazed, and Dan you're probably right it's time to pickup the rest of the set.
For the last few years most weeks Shabbos morning I've been seeing a drop of the endless beauty contained in Likkutei Torah - Torah Ohr
Thanks to @ExGingi recommendation a while back somewhere on DDF I picked up a set of Basi Legani and looked at the Frierdiger Rebbe's as well as 5711-13 from the Rebbe over the summer.
And most recently a few weeks ago I opened a maamer from the Mitteler Rebbe on his Birthday and Yohrzeit and got a whole new appreciation of Shabbos and the world.
