A Kiddush Hashem does not mean making Goyim admire Yidden. Kiddush Hashem is doing Hashem's will despite difficulties, thus promoting the Glory of Hashem on this world.
This is a common fantasy. At times Kiddush hashem calls for not following the Torah solely in order to appear better in Goyims eyes. See following sources:
