looking for a shul for 2 different things
1) a switch that controls a solenoid valve to shut the hot water in the shower by the shkia (maybe another switch to shut the lights a few minutes earlier as a warning)
2) a plug to shut off a comercail seltzer machine from shkia friday till tzes on motzei
Very cool. I assume you have wifi available there.
#2 is an easy smart plug. For #1 it's probably a bit more complex. I'm not familiar with solenoid valves, how do they get switched? Is there any smart ones that can be bought?
It may pay to lookup sprinkler systems with esphome and see if that's helpful.
I can happily help with the details of the configuration to make it work.

can you link me which plug you would recommend for #2? or i should just take a regular smart plug & set it to turn off each Friday at sunset & turn on Saturday sunset +60?
regarding #1, forget about the usage, currently its a regular 7 day timer doinf the controls, but the astronomical timing is very inaccurate, (7 anyways the timer went bad due to the high humidity, so it anyways needs replacement)  loved the fact that on a switch you can override with a specific amount of presses etc

The advantage of this plug is it knows when you tov is as well. (In addition to all the calculations being run on the device itself which makes it more reliable). If you look at the GitHub page I mention some plugs that are easy to use but it's really any plug that can have esphome on it. If your savvy the sonoff s31s are currently on sale but require opening and manual flashing)

Am I understanding correctly that currently whenever this 7 day timer switch is on, the valve is open and when you "flip the switch" it turns off?

In regards to an override or anything you'd like to add it does require some knowledge of esphome but is definitely doable.

At $7.86 per 15A energy monitoring smart plug that's esphome compatible it's a great price. I suspect that due to their new version which has a different chip being released they are trying to clear out inventory.

i consider myself savvy, but for some reason these flashing stuff never cuaght my mind, but decided to see how to do this, i see i need a special adapter, so between all cons (not the flashing person, no adapter) & being that i only need 2-3 devices, i assume it would be easier to buy pre-flashed. which would you recommend?

regarding the switch, you are correct, on means the valve is in open position, off means closed position, can you recommend anything pre-flashed?

(regarding the override button, i was assuming from the posts upthread, that this is one of your options)

The switch (for #1) is in an area with unreliable wifi, but the plug is in an area with a good signal.
Currenly we are using this as the switch for #1

They are a good option, I haven't tried their switch but it should be good.
Updating the firmware is pretty straightforward.

You will need 2.4 GHz WiFi which has better range so hopefully that will work for the switch location. The firmware for the plug is straight forward, but for the switch you'll have to tweak it to add the switch functionality.

Do you mean tweak the code to add the switch bypass option?
Or even without it I would need to tweak it just to be able to use it?

It may work to use it because I have a button for a plug implemented so essentially I guess it should work.

So I spent a lot of time reading up on this today, I like it very much, but don't really have the time right now to play around with it (spent enough time on it already 😁)
So buying now a sonoff s31, and when I'll have time I'll try to program it.
Thanks @Yo ssi for your extreme patience & answering every question with all details. (Honestly I would platz...)
