Maybe I missed it but aside from the 3-three 4-four changes did you do any other semantic changes?

ETA: Alternatively did you try yelling at it like etech0 (!). Is writing ! to AI the current equivalent of banging on the machine?

I tried replacing the semicolon after the first statement with a comma.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

My father wrote a paper in college explaining scientifically why, in several common cases, banging a broken machine fixes it. None of those apply to !, though.

Maybe it just needs a word with a double consonant in order to trigger some intelligence.

I wish there would be a way to disable this nice but silly human typing effect.

I pasted in a 10K hex string to get the translation of it, and it started typing (it was prefacing the answer with a "The hexadecimal string..."), but after a minute and a half it was still by about 1K (and then it stopped, probably because it took too long, or maybe because some limit of 1024 in one string.)

A startup founder mentioned to me that he hired a 3rd software engineer to start soon. After chat GPT was released his current engineers said they no longer needed him. They were able to write hours worth of code in a matter of minutes. It isn’t perfect but it’s still much quicker to review and make minor edits than to start from scratch.

Curious how this plays out in the short and long term. Employees becoming more efficient and productive makes some of them redundant which obviously sucks for them. But in the long run, companies being much more productive will increase economic wealth and that should create many more opportunities overall.

I also see senior employees that are able to 3-5x their output become much more valuable. Even if a junior or mid can 3-5x, the gap between them is immense. If a senior vs junior is like HR vs single, 3x is 3 HRs vs 3 singles. The gap between them is now 9 bases instead of 3.
