I don’t like numbers like this. Seven hundred dead is just that, seven hundred dead. These are not statistics, they are actual human beings who were alive just a short time ago who had their lives snuffed out without warning or reason.

Honestly, "numbers" is a coping mechanism. I can barely fathom a single innocent person murdered when I see the face; saying "X number of people were killed" is a way to hide behind statistics and not be overwhelmed with the sheer amount of people just snuffed out.

Why does that have to be compared? And 1 person in israel compares to 30 people in america? What does one have to do with the other? 700 people is a lot of people regardless how big a country is. 9/11 was way less than 24k and it was a HUGE deal… just doesn’t make any sense to make a statement like that

This is so true by stories of the Holocausts. A detailed journey of suffering and anguish of a single person is much more shaking than hearing the 6 million figure. That's why Holocaust historians and educators try to get full personal accounts of the people they interview and feature.

CNN TV has been doing a very good job covering this story. Much better than Fox so far.
Interviewing many parents with heartbreaking stories including Americans with kidnapped kids with messaged for the President, and presenting the facts without resorting to saying good people on both sides.

What's the plan when entering and occupying, overthrowing the Hamas regime? What's the plan after, who will govern the 2 million angry uncivilized population, the Israeli forces? Impossible. Or maybe they'll just enter to destroy target locations, eliminate current terrorist cells, hopefully recover the hostages alive, and? Hope for a few months of quiet until Hamas drafts new terrorists and restocks their rocket stockpile?

This looks like a vicious rinse and repeat cycle with no endgame vision in sight. To all those calling for severe and deadly retaliation, revenge surly feels great but is there any method to eliminate the threat once and for all? What am I missing?

Even without the hostages. As much as a lot of people here would like to see Israel carpet bomb Gaza, it won't happen. Israel's hands is tied... They are stuck between a rock and a hard place...

I know they are talking about occupying Gaza, but then again.. With a military who could not handle an attack of thousand Hamas mildly trained militants, whom are we going to the table with?
