Let’s say terrorists barricaded themselves with the hostages in a building and were using the building as a launching site. Would it be ok to bomb the building, or should they be given immunity?

The laws of proportionality would allow that. Pretty sure halachah won't. (ETA: after reading the next post, I defer to Rabbi Breitowitz) But it's a great point because it illustrates that proportionality might be a good enough reason, but you can still feel for children who don't even know what they're dying for.

According to the Halacha Headlines shiur a few weeks ago, it would be 100% muttur to bomb the building (during wartime). IIRC it was Rabbi Breitowitz being interviewed. But I don't remember who he was quoting. It hurts and I'm most/all of the families wouldn't be happy. But end of the day, you need to do what you need to do to make sure you are successful at the overall goal of preventing Oct 7th from happening again.

Children aren’t innocent?

What I am saying is that there are cases where even you would agree that they aren’t. For example if an 8 year old kid goes on a killing spree with a gun. There are many scenarios that are between a plain innocent child and that case. We may disagree on some of those cases.

Yes, but his reasoning in אות ב׳ is very much the same. He just picks an extreme case to illustrate the problem.
