I keep thinking of this Gemara in regards to the current Israel us relationship.
The Gemara says that in the times of Ezra, goyim where not allowed to donate to the bias hamikdash and rashi explains the reason. Because their intentions were not for good. They wanted to be able to give advice and to slowly stall the building of the bias hamikdash.

With all the military help we are getting from the us they are knee deep in all the decisions and their goals are not the same as ours and I say this thinking that many in the administration mean well and have good intentions but their view is based on their own political reality and interests.
