Was just told on the phone that although a flight appears on American airlines saver they are still not able to book Becca AA limits the amount BA can take.  Is this true and is there anything I can do?

Can we start to gather data points to figure out when is the best time to look for domestic AA availability (i.e. how far in advance)?

My experiences are 5-7 weeks out...

I agree, but since around this thread all SAAver availability is supposed to show up on BA and you even found it on Alaska, It's probably worth the wait.

Why is it that there are never a "nice amount" of flights/seats whenever I search for flights?

For example, most recently, I've been looking at NYC-PIT RT for 9/12-14 for 2 people and there are literally 2 options. I wouldn't think that that's a particularly high-demand route. When searching for just 1 seat, a few more options pop up, but that doesn't help me.

Just book two singles, one on the flight you want and one on the flight before. Show up to the airport for the second flight and you'll both get on

What? That's not risky? They won't just say - "you missed your flight, too bad?" and "there are not enough seats on the second flight?"

It's called devaluing the award chart. Even though the mileage options are still the same per se, the awards can sometimes be impossible to book. Sometimes it makes your avios "bank accounts" useless.
Best bet is to use aa to search for oneworld awards. But BA might be blocking award inventory for that very reason i listed above.

I always use AA.com to search for BA. I don't think this is a matter of devals. I've never had success finding an array of options for using my Avios (neither has my family that has had Avios for longer than I have) like I often do when looking for UA flights.

Unlikely. I've done it numerous times

Possible. Depends on the route/time of flight. Again, it's never happened to me

So you show up at the check-in counter with the other person and say to them, "I missed my flight can I get on with my friend who's flying the next flight?"

Flat tire rule.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Flat tire rule.
Which brings up the question of yashrus if there wasn't really an emergency :-/

ETA: Unless the idea is that for simply showing up and saying, sorry I missed that flight, they often will just call it the FTR and let you standby.
