All houses here are single family detached.

Probably 90K CH, 125K UH, 180K Beachwood.  Beachwood lot sizes are generally bigger/newer and more likely to have an attached garage.



As far as jobs I know plenty that have moved here for that.  There are some frum organizations that help with that and there's always the online job sites.

Wow. What a huge difference between CH and beachwood!

I actually prefer the older houses. They have more personality.

CH is 50% black and 50% white.  And they have some really nasty cops.

Beachwood is 90% Jewish-the highest percentage of Jews for any city in the diaspora.  And the cops are fantastic.

Don't you find the median salary to be commensurate with the cost of living? I've always assumed lower home values = lower average salary

Lower probably. Commensurate not at all. Life is quite inexpensive here and people don't live to impress others.

In general yes, but all you have to do to beat that system is be an exception.

Except when it comes to shopping. You guys have probably the nicest malls ever.

Prices are definitely on the uptick.  Really depends on where you want to live.

$8k for house? Wow that's cheap. Maybe we can start a Jewish community there even if the houses triple to $24k it'll still be affordable

Lol, back in the day there were tens of thousands of Jews there.

This isn't Lakewood so that wouldn't work here... Ppl can move a block and a half away from community with Shuls schools and kosher store within a five minute walk and still be alone for a few years before someone joins them.
Besides, it's possible to get a house in Cleve Heights for $8k, but you get what you pay for, and may as well buy in Beachwood where you'd get a newer, bigger, nicer house (as was discussed before somewhere on DDF) with better neighbors and mort + taxes should be in the $1200/month range...

Multiply that by 10 times the space, subtract crime and tickets, divide the cost of living by 2, add parking lots, subtract restaurant options, add better summer weather but worse winter weather, add lots of greenery, and you have a house in Beachwood.

Also bli ayin hara, have not gotten a ticket in months. B"h plenty parking where i live. Good view, (you don't have the Verrazano bridge framed in your window) and plenty of trees by me too.

Doesn't have to be frum. Could google this, public school teachr, starting salary, benefits, salary after twenty yrs and pension.
