Facts
The flu vaccine causes more deaths per year than chicken pox.
The direct injection of RSV immunoglobulin, commonly known as the "RSV vaccine" would prevent 16x more deaths than the flu vaccine does, but is too expensive.
There is a vaccine for the plague, and that is why it is no longer an epidemic.
Ebola is caused by vaccines.
There is a vaccine for autism, but it causes mumps.

Opinions
Vaccines do not contain thimerosal, a known toxin.
If you snuck up on your neighbor's kid and cut open his skull, you would be arrested.  But when brain surgeons do it, and charge hundreds of thousands of dollars, it considered "medicine."
99% of vaccines do not cause autism (HT JJ1000).
Every pedi has seen healthy kids become sick physically & mentally hours after a vax (HT Baryochai)
Vaccines cause cancer, infertility, astma, adhd etc (HT Baryochai)

Not at all. This is the same position I've always taken--vaccines are good and worth it but they ARE also lying to us about how good and worth it.

Not to mix popcorn threads

Or as Achas put it:

אין מערבין פופקורן בפופקורן

So everyone has an agenda, or, in the vernacular, IT'S A BUSINESS!

But in all seriousness, yes, the CDC may have an agenda and therefore skew the facts a bit, even us non-smart vaxxers can admit that. But objective studies have proven their stance to be correct. And as much as your opinion makes sense, the "smart people" do not articulate this argument, but instead speak of the ingredients and dangers of the vaccines, along with other fabricated nonsense. Your argument is basically a selfish one, and who wants to admit that? (And you would agree, I assume, because despite it you still vaccinate?)

Yes, we live in a society, and it is my duty as a parent to vaccinate my kids despite the ever so tiny risk, not just for their own safety, but to also contribute to herd immunity and prevent these diseases from spreading. Measles and mumps were all but eradicated, and have now made a comeback, along with pertussis. What's next, polio?

I always hear that not all vaccines are necessary, the prime example being chicken pox. My sister in law almost died from chicken pox as a kid. It blows my mind that someone would refuse a vaccine for something that can be fatal (never mind the crunchy moms who give away chicken pox infested lollipops on Facebook!).  See? Anecdotal evidence is always fun. Let's try another one: My two year old cousin died in the 90s from meningitis. Now, with the vaccine, she'd still be here.

That article just says that it's more common by liberal parents. Nothing about being smart and educated...

It essentially does. It says it's the Whole Foods shoppers. It's the rich white liberals. The ones who go to Ivy league schools.

http://www.indystar.com/story/behind-closed-doors/2015/02/05/dan-burton-defends-vaccine-concerns-on-cnn/22950447/

Quote
"I'm for vaccinations, but we need to get the mercury out of all of them," Burton told CNN's Anderson Cooper.

"Well, are you against breastfeeding?" Cooper asked?

Burton replied that he is not.

"OK, but you are aware that methylmercury is actually in breast milk that's given to children?" Cooper asked "If the child is only breastfed, they get more methylmercury than they would ever have gotten in any of the vaccines. You're aware of that, right?"

Burton replied that he is not an expert on breastfeeding

WOW!
I'm not a big Cooper fan, but damn, great stat!

I support the majority of the vaccines, and I do NOT believe that they cause autism.
however...  ...there's a big difference between drinking something and and multiple intramuscular injections of that same substance.

While true for many substances, seeing how easily methyl-mercury get's absorbed by the digestive tract I don't think it makes THAT big of a difference.

@ henche

Do you believe in the speed limit? It is definitely not in your best interest if you're running late for a deposition. It may even cost you dearly. Yet, you still obey it (hopefully) because you recognize that although it may not be in your best interest at this moment, on the whole it would cost you more in the long run (due to dangerous drivers and increased MVA that may affect you).

Rubella is one of the most terrible diseases for neonates and it is so easily eradicated! Don't be a short-sighted fool (not you, but in general people on the fence).

Nobody lies to me about the purpose of the speed limit.  Particularly not people I'm supposed to be able to trust like my kids' doctor.

1) You asked your kids pediatrician why they are getting rubella vaccine? What did he/she say?
2) Would you tell your 16 y/o kid first time driver that speed limits are really only to negate societal traffic anarchy but really they can go as fast as they want and ignore red lights if it's in their best interest at the moment? Regarding vaccines unfortunately most adults are akin to new drivers.

Is that so? My mayor lied to me and claimed that the 25mph speed limit is supposed to improve safety in NYC...

Does that mean you haven't yet?

There are two sides to the story, one side says go by the vax schedule. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents/downloads/parent-ver-sch-0-6yrs.pdf
Others say no/never/no way.
Some compromise between the two and don't go by schedule (ex. only one shot at a time) + no flu shot or chicken pox...
