Not the case for specialty printers.

Open device manager, look for the device under ports. Or unknown devices.
You can also install the driver and then change the port in device manager if it is not showing properly.

I want to add an SSD to this pc. I don't exactly know what I'm doing here.

Red circle is the dvd drive connections.
Green circle is (new) SSD connections
Blue is HDD connections
Purple is where all three plug into motherboard.
Yellow quadrants:
top left is from ssd
Bottom left is from HDD
Top right is from all three dvd,SSD, and HDD
Bottom right idk I didn't follow.

The red black yellow cable has three plugs on it two were plugged in to the HDD and dvd. The middle one was open and fit the SSD so I plugged it in. Then it was missing the smaller part of the connectors (sata cable?) so I took it from the dvd drive and put it on the SSD. (You can see in the red circle it's missing).

I power on the computer but I still only see the HDD as an available drive.

Where am I going wrong?

A bit hard to decipher what's going on.

Step one. Is there power and a sata connection for each drive?
Step two. Are the drives showing up in the bios?

And if I may ask, why do you need a dvd player?!

Where do you look for "available drives"?

If you're looking in Windows Explorer (📁 icon) you should first go to Disk Management and check what you get there.

As @Yisroel Tech said your first stop should be Disk Management/Disk Partition. Windows often won't automatically know what to do with a new SATA disk so won't assign it a drive. Check there if there's a mountable drive. Otherwise sometimes you have to boot into Bios to see if it recognizes it

Aha. Looks like it sees it as disk 1. But it's not initialized or something. From a quick Google search it seems like gpt is the way to go so I pressed that.

Now what do I do? I wanted to clone windows on to the SSD and leave the hard drive for storage. Make a simple volume using all available storage?

Like a good jew I'll answer with a question  ;) :) How do you plan to do the clone?

Typically you do not need to make any volumes before doing the clone, the closing software is already going to take care of that for you.

Which SSD (manufacturer and model) is it, and did it come with a (or a link for a) closing software?

+1 (https://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v8/ReflectDLHF.exe)

I believe you can just go ahead with the cloning and everything should be good.

I did the clone overnight I had it set to turn off the PC. In the morning I checked and saw all the folders in the SSD so figured it worked. But now when I try using it this shows up

In the morning you saw the PC Off and when turning On you saw the files, or it was (still) On?

Is this error also when you only have one of the drives (trying separately the SSD and the HDD) connected when booting?

Computer was off on the morning.

I just tried only SSD same error. With both plugged in it boots from HDD (because it's still slow like a turtle).

I changed the boot order in bios.

The log file was very long but I saw stuff in it that didn't look too good. But don't know what it means

Are you sure you closed all disk partitions (system reserved as well)?

Maybe a screenshot of Disk Management with both drives connected?
