Besides for excess wear and tear policies (damage waiver) has anybody gotten a tire policy as well?
Yea, I have a Tire and Wheel waiver.
Has it done you any good?
Didn't need to come on to it yet.
True. There is also mazal involved...
People don't realize that when you spend allot to lease you are not giving yourself the chance to have good mazzal.Which plenty of people have with 5-10 yr old cars. And you are talking about thousands of dollars over a few years...
Will be needing to get my first car in a few months pg. Reading up here. To clarify: those, like Dan, who are vehemently against leasing, are advising to buy a new car and pay it up over a few years. Correct?
Better value is buying a 1 year old car and financing it at 1.75%. When buying a brand new car you pay a premium to be the first person to drive it out of the lot. Let someone else pay that premium and shave a bunch of $$ off the price. I got a 6 month old car for 6K off the going price for new. It was a unique situation and not really replicate-able but you should be able to shave a few thousand off for being willing to not get a brand spanking new car.
I used to think like this, until I realized (or was made aware by Dan) how to negotiate a new car purchase. With a new car, there are tens (hundreds!) of places to buy the exact same item. You can pit them against each other and get the lowest price available. Buying a used car, each item is unique, making it much more difficult to negotiate.
Why would someone but a new car and sell it after a year?
If I pay 179 for a camery that 6444 over 3 years and I get a new car every 3 years. Buying u usually the car goes down more after 3yrs and 36k. And ur stuck with an older car.
