A few years ago I posted a photo on Facebook of a hotel room for which I redeemed points. I wrote that the points came from a credit card.

An old high school classmate immediately called me immoral for using a rewards credit card. He said I take advantage of merchants who must pay credit card processing fees, which he said were especially high for "signature rewards cards." He even said I take advantage of customers who use cash since these customers pay the same prices but forgo rewards points.

The only worthwhile thing I learned from his comment was that the processing fees for Visa Signature are indeed higher than the fees for lower tiers of Visa credit cards.

Oh, and he now works as a management consultant at Deloitte. He likes to show off his SPG AMEX. The hypocrisy of some people is unbelievable.

Anything I don't do right now is immoral.

My point was that this game is hurting ME in a few ways including financially, emotionally, financially again an hurting MY ethics. I am weak. I let it take over my life.

Hope you're not referring to me either. I'm far from a saint and didn't drop out the game due to any sort of ethical conundrum. Was purely a personal move, the ethical side never registered for me.
