What's wrong with flying?

No issue however  am planning on arriving in Venice Friday afternoon. The only reasonable flight is  Sunday night and I'm still debating if that is too short. If driving is an option I would think about staying in Venice an extra day (unless you think it's long enough in Venice and I should head over to Nice Sunday night anyway?)

Ok thanks. It seems that the Sunday night flight option might not be so bad after all. If I feel like I should've stayed in Venice longer it'll just be a good reason to go back :-)

Has anyone taken the overnight train from Nice to Paris? What has your experience been?

Is "Kosher Beth Din" hashgacha a good hechsher - I see a list of kosher restaurants on this website http://www.123cacher.com/en/kosher_restaurant/kosher-restaurants.php but am curious if that means Glatt etc.

Also - does Nice have the same vile and rampant antisemitism/riots that is found in Paris?

Nice/Cannes/Juan Les Pins

I am planning a trip to the cote d'azur and am still not sure in which city I should stay. All of the above have kosher restaurants and chabad. Which place would be nicest for Shabbos? Has anyone ever stayed in Juan Les Pins (Antibes)? What are the pro/cons of each city?   Are there kosher restaurants I could go to on Shabbos? Any suggestions are welcome.

Le Tovel in Cannes is occasionally open Friday night. You can always order takaway on Thursday. The Chabad mashgiach comes in/out and the owner goes to shul on shabbos. There are 2 bakeries where chabad checked the baguettes and lights the fire so it's pas yisroel.

There's a pretty good (but filthy) bakery in Juan Lis Pines.

AFAIK Nice beis din shecita is not glatt.

Monaco master thread
« Reply #71 on: August 12, 2014, 02:45:35 AM »
As I'm flying to nice next week I was looking for details about Monaco but couldn't find anything.

So can anyone tell me about the place.

I'll start with the following questions:

1: is it worth it to go there?
2: what are the must see?
3: is there anything kosher there?

Thanks.

I will be going to Monaco in a few hours and will hopefully be able to better answer these questions then. As far as food I don't believe there is anything kosher in Monaco but there are kosher restaurants in Nice which is about a half hour train ride away.

1. Yes
2. Palace, casino, super yachts in the harbour.
3. No kosher restaurants. There is however an option to have kosher dinner at the Fairmont (provided by an outside caterer). http://m.fairmont.com/monte-carlo/dining/kosher-food/

Is Beth Din of Nice acceptable?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I didn't eat their meat, but I know people that do. Ask around (although when I asked at Chabad, I felt that they were biased against BD).

Ok just got back from a day trip to monaco. Definitely worth a visit especially since it's a pretty quick train ride from Nice. I found both the Casino and the Palace less than exciting (I did not however go into the palace just saw it from the outside) but the views are absolutely magnificent. Take a long walk around the coastline and bring a good camera. It's breathtaking.

Any knowledge on current Anti-semitism situation in Nice/Cannes? Is it pretty similar to Paris?
