Does your family have official breakfast/lunch/supper where everyone comes and eats together at the same time (like a shabbos meal)?
Not in a family where the kids are young and will only eat if you feed them. I'm talking about when they're older and can eat or make food themselves.
Supper together for everyone in the house.
My husband and I catch up on each other's day and include the kids. When my daughter stayed over after having a baby, she came to the table for most suppers, even if she'd already eaten, so she could catch up on the gossip.
Now with the quarantine, I have big boys home and adult couples and their kids coming for stretches of time. Some families eat together at their own schedule to feed the kids earlier, but we still have the main crowd together.
I find that when we eat together, everyone takes as much food as they like and will take seconds if they want. When we eat in 'shifts', there's either leftovers that someone would have eaten or we run out before all the people are done.
