Kosher restaurants aren't allowed to be open on Shabbos in Israel.

Most of the hotels offer Shabbos meals.

Ah good point. Anyone know of a hotel (with reliable hashgacha, I know that's relative) that offers meals for cheap?
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Hotel meals are way over budget.

So we're moving onto takeout, any recommendations for cheap takeout Shabbos food in Yerushalayim?

There are a few places in Geula.

There are a few places in Geula.

Hadar Geulah on Malchei Yisrael or on Givaat Moshe.
Shaarei Revacha has a branch of Lemons catering in the branch off of Shamgar (this is true all week)
Forget what the place is called at the end of Yaakov Meir (one of the streets off Malchei Yisrael) - they have a takeout setup upstairs only on Erev Shabbos
Goldy's on Givaat Moshe, big selection but more expensive iirc
There's this place on Yirmiyahu off of Oholiav, forget the name, Landau hechsher last I was there, takeout only on Erev Shabbos (otherwise eatery)
Place on Strauss right before Kikar Shabbos, iirc very small selection
Hamisada in Beis Yisroel starting also opening Erev Shabbos, that type of food all week. If you are in Beis Yisroel on Thursday night, Yoelys is also open (just dips, fish, shnitzel, tempura chicken, kugel and cholent).

List is surely not exclusive.  ;D

Place on YM is called La Casa.
Place on yirmiyahu is called Mifgash haeish - is Eida, and take out thursday and friday. Closes 3pm fri in summer (2 i n winter)
Opposite gaanei Romema - Shabbos Market - Closes much closer to shabbos, smaller but adequate selection of prepared foods- Kehilos (also has tons of wine, candies, packaged nosh etc...)
Bordeaux (on Oholiav near Hatzala) not sure what the hechsher is, did not have one at all for a long time
In Peninat chemed:
Motties? on shamgar to the left of pituchei moshiach (Kehilos?)
Phenom on shamgar to the right of albar/europcar (also Kehilos)

There are also tons of by-order caterers, large and small, with various hechsherim - check the newcomers guide, the RE/Sandhedria/Sorotzkin Neshie emails lists
Easy Does It is Eida, and run by a wife of a TC.
There's a largish caterer in RE that is Rubin, name slips my mind at the moment
Pretty sure Yoelis still caters by order.

In a pinch there are Mikva gesheften that stock widish selections of shabbos food and supplies and are open till close to shabbos (the ones I know of)
Sanz On Zayis Raanan is the widest that I know of, though its been a year or two since I was there last.
Satmar Ezras Torah
Belz
Batei Ungarin
I think also Viznitz? in Sanhedria Meurchevet
Though Viznitz in Murchevet has only challos, cake, kugel, dips and pareve cholent.
