Hello everyone, The Restaurant Guy here:
Anyone know the real name of JKhein? I'd like to make sure he never buys and saves money from my deals, which has been in existence for 8 years with a stellar reputation for customer service, honesty and saving my customers close to $170,000!
And when I say have spoken to AMEX and a supervisor, you can be rest assured I have. His name is Rick Brown and you can call up AMEX and verify that he is supervisor there and he is working on the credits. But calling him everyday will only delay the credits so don't bother him! Trust me, AMEX did this as a goodwill to their custoemrs and merchants. They are not going to screw any of us.
And cbs, I obviously know who you are and I think I should get an apology for your comments when I worked through the night in making sure you got your cards processed. I think I got a yashar koach in your last email to me if not mistaken. I'm glad AMEX came through with your credits as they will with everyone else. But see below for a little more details on the why's, where's and how's of this past Sat. night:
To add a footnote on this matter, we got close to 500 orders on SBS and I think I have logged a total of 70 hours in the last 96 hours on processing the cards and filling the orders by hand. It's important to note that I have spent thousands of dollars in building a custom deal site that can process an infinite amount of orders at a time but AMEX wasn't accepting online orders for the promotion, so that was one hurdle. The second is that the difference between what I had to do and what other stores had to do was I had to key in every card manually as opposed to swiping. I had customers from all over the country that waited a little too late but called and emailed their orders in on Saturday night while we were trying to process the orders. I think I turned down at least another 100 orders b/c I simply had to concentrate on the orders we already had and came in. Swiping 500 cards takes a fraction of the time to keyeing the cc number, exp. date, amount and billing address. Not to mention having a list of 10 to 40 numbers from different person that can get very confusing. Third, our business is different and better than most, where the price of their product is the price. We already discount our prices so you are actually paying much less (usually 20-25% off) the value so even with the $1, we are the best deal around. Fourth, we went out of way to take every order that came in and divide it up evenly so the customer was able to utilize every card at its minimum. AMEX frowns upon splitting the total price into several cards but we did it to make the customer happy. And remember, as a Shabbos observing Jew, I was only able to start processing cards after 6pm. And we were on the phone with AMEX all night making sure and they guaranteed us that any orders we processed on Sunday were going to get the $25 statement credit. And there are a million other points I can make, but I have another 20 hours to go to finish up sending the rest of our "discounted" certificates out. And I think I deserve a little shameless plug since Chanukah is coming (makes for a great gift) and people can purchase over 100 restaurant certificates at up to 50% off from around the country in seconds on our site -
