It appears my post did not clearly represent what I was trying to say.
Spread among 30 y/os is directly and indirectly responsible for a miniscule amount of deaths compared to spread in nursing homes.
False, and exactly my point. All large scale spread in LTCFs started with large scale spread among other people. The spread among 30 year olds directly and indirectly led to *every* death in the US- including those in LTCFs. I’m not saying Cuomo wasn’t dead wrong (he certainly was), I’m saying the US failed in precisely this way on a broad scale. Bringing in Cuomo’s deadly decisions as a *defense* of the US death rate is inane.
Denmark, Taiwan, New Zealand, and the other countries quoted in the tweet didn’t need to decide about that *because* there wasn’t a lot of spread. Sweden is now being accused of poor nursing home policy as well *because* there was a lot of spread. You can’t get to step 2 (good or bad nursing home policy) without getting to step 1- having a lot of infected people spreading COVID.
