It's terrible... A donation, flying the flag, remembering them, none of that will give a closure to anyone... Some synagogues say a prayer on Shabbos for the US Armed Forces...
BTW the guy who gets killed the week before he was supposed to retire to civilian life is not any better.

I have spoken with many active duty service members and veterans, many of whom shared with me the same message: remember them on Memorial Day, don't just focus on your BBQ and day off.

You can also honor those that have fallen by doing even small things for those that are serving and protecting us now. If you see a couple of military personal eating lunch you can always call their server over. Pick up their bill and make sure to tell the server not to take a tip from them as you will take care of it also. They will be grateful and never have to know it was you. There is a ton of things one can do besides the obvious of giving to the charities that support the families of our fallen. As we say all the time in the games we play you can do both.

The Jewish guy is what the rescue resources and funds were there for initially. When they figured out he wasn't going anywhere, they raised more funds and used the resources already in place to rescue other people. If not for the failed attempt to convince the Jew to leave, they wouldn't have been there to begin with.
