There is an extreme amount of politics involving the dairy industry. To sum it up, there is something going around (I cannot confirm the authenticity) that Pride of the Farm was told that if their trucks cross the Verrazano Bridge (IE enter Brooklyn) they will all be burnt.

In Lakewood alone there is one major chain that does not carry it, though most agree that it is to their detriment.

Incidentally, Pride of the Farm has an extremely high level of kashrus. IINM, it is the only company with a dedicated dairy farm which is 100 percent cholov yisroel. (see more here.)

Also, I recently went to ORD. Dairy Star really picked up their CY game. Their milkshakes are incredible and their dipped soft serve tastes like regular ice cream.
