Interesting, because when you check the incoming flight from Chicago, it says delayed due to technical issues. Always easy to blame the weather.
BTW, they actually departed at 12:37pm today. Almost 14 hours late!
If you were around the NYC are yesterday you would know the weather was really bad there were lots of thunderstorms

I know, but what happens when It’s a combined weather/technical issue?
Due to this delay, tonight’s flight UA91 is delayed till tomorrow morning. May run into shabbos problem for some.

i was booked from LGA-TYS on AA with BA avios on 8/18, the flight was cancelled due to weather conditions so they re booked me for 8/19.  and then yesterday flight was delayed over 5 hr.! i decided not to take it due to the late hr. of arrival with no possibility to get my car rental, thereafter i went to baggage claim to get my checked bags and they requested to get it back on the carousel they told me i will definitely get it back now since its still in the room, but after half hr. when i went back to baggage claim they said its on the aircraft already... i'm still waiting for my luggage to get back to NY! i have lots of frozen food there and stuff i need very important like personal items etc. !!! so i lost my vacation what i paid $300 already for hotel stay! i wasted hours in airport yesterday and Sunday! spent money for traveling back and forth to airport! lots of food will go to waste! missing in the mean time some personal stuff!! how could i get compensated for this? what should i request for? should i call or email? i paid the taxes and bags with CSR card so is it chase who compensates or AA is responsible? thanks

If you get a report from AA you should get $100 per person per 24hr. from CSR for expenses.

I'm not sure if its considered delayed baggage in terms of them reimbursement as per DOT rules but I would by items that you can ultimately return which are "verifiable incidental expenses".

Hope this helps you.
Always praying for delayed baggage.

Same thing happened to me tonight on southwest.  They had us switch flights bc my first leg got delayed.  First available flight is tomorrow. They told me I could wait for my bags.  I sent my wife and kids back to my in laws and my son and I waited for our luggage.  After around two hours they said it got routed to LA.  No clothes.  Also frozen meat.  I booked with miles and Southwest priority card. But they said that I can't file for delayed baggage bc the baggage is not delayed.  We were delayed.  It's maddening. Do I have any recourse regarding insurance or with the airline?

A family member was on Delta flight 2385 last week that was delayed 8 hours on the tarmac. There was no food or water for at least 3-4 hours. She even noticed water bottles and was told it was "only for first class." Delta started by offering everyone 10,000 Skypesos. Obviously unacceptable. I suggested she reach out and see what else they offer. Now they are up to a $200 voucher or 31,500 pesos. Any thoughts on next steps? Should she take any of those offers? File a DOT complaint? Anything else?

Airline: Etihad
Flight: JFK-AUH
Class: First
Incident: Bags lost for 3 days and no KSML
Compensation: A sincere apology inflight, and an apology letter.

Airline: Etihad
Flight: AUH-CMN
Class: Business
Incident: Flight delayed 6+ hours, 4 of which we were kept on the plane without A/C. Staff admitted they knew of the software issue before boarding, but thought they'd be able to repair it eventually.
Compensation: Apology letter.
