IMO, what you want to protect most is your Chase account.  In that case, IMO I would go with three.  CMIIW, but you cannot do 2 without paying.

For a little while after you post, there's the option to 'modify' above your post.  I don't know for how long.  You're even given the option to 'remove'.

You can also open up a card with someone as a co-signer.

Or as i said before, you can try to apply to a student card if applicable. As a general rule, cards with no fees and few perks,  if any, are usually easier to get approved.
