Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

Depends what exactly your goal is. You could close the United card right away so that you could reopen it again shortly (people suggest waiting 30 days- the BA card you have to wait 12 months for IIRC), but if you want to get other Chase cards as well, you can use it as leverage to get a new card by offering to move the CL/close it, thus allowing you to accomplish two goals (getting another card, and enabling yourself to churn the UA card soon). Either way, if you decide to close make sure to transfer the CL to existing cards.

I've been reading through posts about when to use Chase Sapphire Preferred vs. Chase Freedom with a checking account, however I haven't seen a clear answer on when to use which.  Is this assumption correct with the current card benefits:  If it is dining or travel and doesn't fall into the 5% rotating Freedom categories, use Sapphire, otherwise use Freedom?  This is only talking about domestic purchases.

I've pretty much been reading through hundreds of forums to try and understand more. I keep seeing that people are referring to "Wikis" can someone explain where I can find them? Or are they referring to the original post about that specific topic and just calling it a wiki

some topics such as this one have a community editable wiki in the beggining of the topic and on every page it can be viewed by clicking on where it says wiki on top of the page( on tapatalk its only the first page)

A wiki is a post before the original post that anyone can edit or add/change to. Not every thread has one but a lot do, mostly the ones with a lot of information to make it easier for the reader.

If you look on the top of the first page of some threads (including this one) you will find the wiki. it can also be found on the other pages but you have to open it by pressing the + sign.

How does it work with meeting CC thresholds? AP limits you to 1000 how do you use the vanilla reloadables to meet it and is there a limit depending on the bank the CC is issued from?  ???

Adult children,  parents, siblings...
Basically, BB requires it to be a real person.  One card per person.  Not even a BB and Serve, their other debit card.
My favorite cause: cssy.org

Anyone over 18 can get one. One per SS though.

Anybody know the wiki or details about the timeframe to churn cards? Like for example I opened the sapphire card back in December and I'd like to close it and reapply for it to receive the sign up bonus a second time.

That info was removed for the sake of longevity, but it's all included in the various threads.
