Random post on gratitude and on not judging anyone. This just happened to me on my way to work this morning.
Here in Toronto masks are still mandatory on public transit. I take public transit to work almost daily and I'd say compliance on the bus and subway is still 95-99%, and often the ones who don't wear a mask are homeless or have a visible mental disability.
I was sitting on the bus this morning and a guy gets on with no mask and sits down next to me. He had no visible disability, and although it doesn't bother me that he's not wearing a mask I can't deny that I was sitting there wondering whether he has some sort of real reason to not wear one or if he just doesn't care. I also noticed that throughout the ride he never took out a cell phone.
Guy gets up to get off the bus at the same stop as me, and takes his hands out of his pockets as he's walking. As I'm walking behind him I notice that he has no fingers at all on either of his hands. I imagine he literally can't get a mask on as he'd have no way to pull the straps behind his ears. He also probably can't use a phone without any fingers.
Just a thought on being grateful for what we have, and on not judging people as you never know what's going on in their lives. You never know whose hands are in their pockets to hide the fact that they have no fingers.
Disclaimer: This is not a covid post. We have numerous threads on DDF where we can argue about masks, and I don't think we need to bring that discussion here.
