I'm pretty sure whenever anyone from the "NY Area" talks about the city they mean Manhattan (or at the very least the 5 boroughs). i know i did even when i lived in highland park.

did anyone every try "cancelling" their prepaid cards and asking for refund?
In the terms of the OneVanilla it says
"if you do not agree with any of these terms, call this number... to cancel your prepaid card and request a refund"

Not sure about your card specifically, but the myvanilladebit card has a $9.xx check fee for them to mail you a check.
(they only do so if you close the account)

Netspend also has a large fee if they close your account with money inside.

Can I load a Bluebird with a Greendot MoneyPak? It states that it can reload an Amex prepaid card which BB is.
Its much more seen in stores

Has anyone purchased VR's in Queens or Brooklyn the last 2 days?

There was a travel blogger who tried to buy a VR at 3 different locations in manhattan and was rejected each time. I was skeptical and actually found a place that carried VR's in the upper east side. Went to the cashier and was told no credit cards.

I have not found any in Brooklyn at all. Alot of places that sell are cracking down on CC they will only allow you to pay with cash. GL and if you do find a place that does have and takes CC please let us know

Why bother - you greendot is cash only.
