HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Exactly my point. You didn't tell them to do it, so why do you have to be the one to tell them to stop?
I also didn't tell them to have to have their credit cards paid by a 3rd party or to make intra-UR transfers.  And yet I made a warning about that.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

A whole blog post on DDMS spotlighting this ethically questionable activity would garner all the wrong types of attention, both from corpsec and the lemmings who follow DDMS whose reading comprehension often stops three words into the title of a post.

The boat is rocking all by itself, why tip it over?
Could also just make a roundup of top signup offers, mention I'm on my 2nd 100K, and slip in the warning.

I think that might be the best option.

Make a very stern warning but dont make it the headline

If it could be done in a relatively vague fashion and you feel compelled to do it that seems like a good way to go about it

I don't think that should be pushed too.
Next thing we know is that the Executive card will be hard-coded just like the platinum. Don't publicize things that can cause citi to change policy.
The only reason we were able to get multiples of the same platinum cards in the summer for 2 months was because it never left the forums for the most part.

But the shutdowns are occurring so what further risk is there for corpsec to see it, if anything they should be happy if he stands against the practice?
Agreed about the lemmings so maybe he's gotta put the "don't" or "bad idea" in the first 3 words lol.
Shutdowns may be occurring but why encourage them by having them realize how prevalent this is (or by now let's hope how prevalent this was).

Yes, but those warnings were posted in a spirit of education. This currently proposed post seems like it's coming from a sense of urgency. The urgency is what's rubbing me the wrong way. Dan, you are a teacher (and a darn good one) so teach. But the desperation doesn't smell right to me. (Unless I am totally missing something here.)

You know what the Rebbe Rashab told his only son about "V'avadtem m'heira..."? He teitched it "and you should get rid of the haste." And that was in reference to davening with hislahavus! Yet the Rebbe Rashab told the Rebbe Rayatz that even in that area he needs to slow down.

How much more so....

There's no special agenda here, its just never been an issue until now.

If there is I'd like to know about it too :P

What's wrong with making a just a ethical post about spending on credit cards. No mention of AA or Citi.  write what to do or what not do. Only what's ethically right and wrong. You can include other things besides refundable tickets.

You are a nogeah b'dovor. And while I also believe that nothing should be posted, it is not for the reason that motivates you.

Too much emotionalism on this thread. What has made DDF a source of great info is the yishuv hada'as and the lack of hysterical, herd mentality, non-thinking. It would be a shame if these shutdowns (which apparently are affecting people who we consider friends) would compromise the level-headed tone that has prevailed until now.

You clearly weren't around during the peak of, or haven't spent much time in, the Chase A/A thread.
