When using points to book a ticket, do all airlines allow changes and cancellations until the last minute?

No, not all. US Airlines generally let you cancel until the plane leaves the gate, but other airlines can range from $5.60 to $100 for changes/cancellation. Which airline are you trying to book?

Edit: found an OMAAT article with most cancellation policies

If a United airlines flight is sold out in a certain fare class and there are 3 month's until the flight, can I safely assume the fare class will come back?

Delta BE fares are also cancelable till departure, despite website seemingly stating otherwise. Have done it successfully many times.

Complicated question as many fares pull the same inventory
Also you didn't specify which fare and how competitive of a market

Even if I book a ticket for myself (discount den member) on same itinerary  as them Just I don't show up? Why wouldn't that work?

That will likely work, but you may get audited.

FFN can be changed at the gate if looking to get ground benefits from one program and credit miles to another. But once a segment was flown, can the FFN generally be changed for the remainder of the segments?

We have flights scheduled to go out United on Dec. 17 to TLV (return on Dec 30th).  So far United has consistently canceled flights as they get closer. We got the tickets through Capital One Venture points. I am weighing canceling the flights now and rebooking on ELAL (not cheap) or waiting for United to cancel and rebook later.  Who knows they may still fly.  We have an add on with Capital One for canceling for any reason.  It only provides 80% Refund ($4,869.99 / 486,999 miles) of your ticket cost back to our points system I suppose or 100% United Credit ($6,087.48 / 608,748 miles) of your ticket cost only to be used within the next year. I am assuming that if United cancels the flight we get 100% back not as United credit, but I can't tell. Can someone help me weigh waiting for United to cancel as opposed to preempting it and taking the 80% and rebooking with ELAL.  I can't see us using the united points within a year since we don't fly that much.  Thanks in advance.

What benefit do you get from cancelling?  You get  your points back and you'll use them to book on Elal?
If United cancels and you get 100% back, can you then book on Elal?  Will the price be higher then?  Will  it be 20% higher? If not,for sure, wait.  If yes, it's your gamble.

Does it make sense that the flight left just a few minutes late and arriving almost 4 hours late, or something wrong this this flight tracking?

BA and VS partner with each other on cash bookings, could very well be they will end all the way through
