If I close a amex card and I reinstate it within  30 days , will it show up on my credit report as closed(/reopened) ?

Going to hate myself for asking this. Please explain huge?

A while back, I (temporarily) had a credit report with only one account on it, and one inquiry dropped that report's FICO by over 20 points. I've seen reports elsewhere of even bigger hits when the report in question is very short and very thin.

Not sure how this is possible. I had a mortgage, car lease, and multiple credit cards pulled on a report with only one account on it, and dropped nowhere near 20 points.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

You're arguing that because it didn't happen in your case, it's not possible?

How old was the one account on the report?

No, I was merely stating that it is hard for me to understand how it is possible, given my experience. The account i am referring to was at most 2 years old.

My one account was three months old.

IIRC you need three trade lines reporting to generate a CR/FICO score.

No, you need one account that's at least 6 months old, one account that's been updated within the past six months, and a pulse.

(Thinking back, the report in question had only one current account, plus an old store card that hadn't been updated in years.)

My wife has a score and she's at 2/lifetime now, so that kinda disproves it

just out of curiosity... for the heavy/aggressive churners out there... i do churn but i am pretty cautious... (probably around a dozen or so new cc's a year), but due to some recent abilities to spend more money, i would like to open even more cards. I am concerned though, about looking "too risky" ... e.g., i saw the chase A/A wiki which said randomly people got shut down for having too many cards open even at other banks!

Q: have people been into getting the CB to remove closed accounts (in good standing) off their CR? I saw some goodwill letters on line for accounts in bad standing, etc. I was just thinking if I can have the CB remove some accounts from my CR I would be more inclined to open more ccs... that way at least the excessive amount of cards I churn will not look too suspicious (not that it already doesn't...) anyway... any pointers greatly appreciated.. TIA!!

I don't sweat it and just churn away. My CR is long and thick. I don't even worry about maxing cards out at 100%.

I am at four times (AA) with them. When should I start caring?

I don't think that's possible. CMIIW. But why would they remove it from your credit history?

Yes you can have some removed but you would have to lie.
