There's videos going around that I did not want to watch because it is disturbing. From what people describe, it matches up with why his "Beis Din" is banned by the poskim in Lakewood.

I would suppose that Rabbi Knopfler himself purposely wanted to get arrested to bolster his case that his religious rights are being violated.

As far as the bystanders (I didn't see the video but did see it reported) such conduct is shameful and goes a long way in causing aiva.
