Hundreds?
I wonder if (and strongly hope) that is was an exaggeration.
He didn't write it. He was interviewed.
I think I figured out what happened here.
I cannot fathom that there were hundreds of miscarriages in Lakewood, and although it's possible he's talking about elsewhere as well, it's not likely. However, I don't think it's possible to say that there were hundreds of miscarriages in Lakewood, based on simple math, if you calculate how many frum families there are and how many are expecting and how many had covid etc.
Here's my assumption. The Voice did a phone interview with him. He said, "In recent weeks we've come across hundreds of cases, that resulted in miscarriages and sometimes death of the young mothers themselves." Notice the comma placement.
He did not mean that there were hundreds of miscarriage. Rather, there were hundreds of cases. They resulted in (a number of) miscarriages etc.
