A few weeks ago, I made a post in a since-deleted thread speaking about bullying and meanness where I pledged to do better. But since then, I've gotten into bitter flame wars for various reasons. Then a few days ago I made use of the ignore user feature and I cannot recommend it enough. It's not a hateful thing, but if the discussions are not being had in a productive, honest way, you're doing yourself a favor by avoiding being goaded or tempted into pointless and endless bickering.

I sometimes struggle with this, as by nature I am naturally argumentative so I'm sure I'm to blame sometimes. However, I don't think anyone enjoys getting into pointless bickering, and many times both sides contribute to the issue.

What I think can help - community managers - kinda like mods, that step in and message the offending parties, gently reminding each side to tone it down and that in the big picture we are all on the same side.
