There are also a bunch of whatsapp chats with rentals. These are often person-to-person (i.e. without an intermediary/agent fee, but confirm) and can be cheaper, but may also be riskier for both parties. Ideally get references when dealing with substantial amounts of money. To preserve the quality of the participants some people are reluctant to publicly post links to these chats. Is $100/night even remotely the going rate? I would think it would be double or triple that, at least. Especially over yomtov.

Should be, unless in the really high demand areas (think near Gur/Belz).
Once you go a METER out of the tourist areas - prices drop like a stone.

On another point, what people are asking/paying for regular rentals in the central areas is absolutly nuts.
You could buy the exact same size (or larger) house in RBS Neve Yaakov or the like and pay it off in under 10 years with the same or less monthly payment
