YOSHON: Yoshon status is noted on the ingredient panel. Note that labels may change at any time and so it is important to check the label on every meal you receive. In general, do not assume airline meals worldwide are yoshon, so be sure to always inquire. Flights leaving Eretz Yisrael (with reliably certified meals) are always yoshon.

Sorry no pic. Had same dinner, but for breakfast out of ewr yesterday, had fresko omelette with potatoes. Was very good.

I don't understand why they aren't fully yoshon. Many ppl taking these flights are makpid. It's not like you can go somewhere else once you're in flight...

as entertaining as that read was (far more than french fries and bugs), has anyone ever had  decent bread/rolls on a plane, mezonos or otherwise?

+1 I don't fly a ton but I never remember enjoying the bread.

that's because you washed and didn't dry your hands and as a an onesh you made the bread all soggy

Update so far:
I emailed United Corporate, as well as the two airline Kosher caterers in Australia, as well as the two Kosher Agencies in Australia.

United Corporate (auto?)responded that they need time to investigate and hope to have a response within 5-10 business days from an Executive Solutions Manager.

The Kosher caterers clarified that each one respectively is the exclusive Kosher supplier for the two airlines caterers in Australia, NDATA and Gate Gourmet:

• NDATA clarified to their Kosher caterer that they do not stock UA.
• Gate Gourmet clarified to their Kosher caterer they do stock UA, and there is no KSML supply issue on their end; they have plenty of stock and ability to supply all UA flights regardless of departing Australian airport, and the problem lies with UA.

As to the Kosher Agencies, one didn’t respond, and the other didn’t seem to regard it as a matter for their attention… (as of this post).

SFO to SYD did not have kosher meals as an online option.  Called United, and agent said that kosher was not available.  However, after expressing my displeasure, agent put in a special request.   Voila.  Happy to report that we received KSMLs....from Regal.  Mushroom ravioli entree, a tuna sandwich snack, and plain omelets before landing.  Hoping MEL to SFO comes thru as well.

Hermolis fresh (not the long life frozen wich is also better than Stogetls and WAM) on BA serves a separate foil pan with warmed up rolls/danishes - very good
Also Emirates Kosher now have rolls on flights departing Dubai which were good when I had them in may.
Also fresko/regal sometimes have a good pita but that only seems to be in the evening when it was a meal supplied THAT day

I actually grew up washing on almost any of these things, but after learning the sugyos I often don't. Koach d'hetera... But one of my travel rules is

"Always know where your towel is,"

and I do dry my hands well on it after I wash (I always do when I eat the roll on a plane).
Either way, since a certain incident I've mentioned elsewhere when I had to give up my meal, I always carry (hamotzi!) sandwiches. So I don't end up washing on the roll - I usually just eat the main and the veggies (if they didn't ruin them).

AA JFK - SFO J Regal Breakfast. Food was fresh and tasty (aside from the stake croissant)





AA SFO - JFK J Regal Dinner. Food was poor. Seared tuna was spoiled and the meat was rubber

Would anyone have insight into why United does not allow KSML selection on MEL-SFO.
Any ideas how to get around it?

Would love to know the answer.  We are on MEL to SFO later this month.

Pre-flight, agents will just say that its not an option and there is nothing they can do.
Post-flight messages will earn canned responses.

Any suggestions as how to get meal from MEL to SFO?  - have 4 trips in next 7 weeks - the SFO-MEL had no issue at all.

Before my flight, I was able to get through to a UA phone agent who added it with ease.
The KSML was then showing in the reservation when viewed online, but not in the app.
The main thing is that it came through on the flight.
What was strange is that a previous phone agent told me they could not add it, so this may require HUCA (and waiting on hold...)
Either way, it seems like this is an IT issue more than anything else, and something UA can probably easily rectify if they actually cared to.
