Hey, So I opened a capital one credit card when I was 15 and lied about my birthdate on the application. (I used my real ssn, name, address etc.) Somehow they accepted me and didn't match my social with my birthdate. Fast forward 2 years, at age 17 after paying all my credit card balances on time, i had to call capital one for a particular question i had. For verification, the representative on the line asked me my birthdate and i incidentally gave the wrong birthdate that i put on the credit card application. She must have thought i was a fraud trying to get into someone else's account and she froze my account. A year or two later, i received a letter in the mail stating that they closed my credit card (i think it was due to inactivity). Fast forward 4 years.... i am now 21 and have opened numerous other credit cards from chase, citi etc (with my correct birthdate) and have excellent credit score. So I am left with a frozen account with a closed card with capital one.
1. What should my next step be? (I know it is crime to lie on a credit card application and could possibly get jail time)
2. Would I be able to sign up for capital one venture x card (with my correct birthdate) with no issues?
I really need advice. I would appreciate if
@Dan you would be able to give me advice.
Thanks in advance.
