From what I understand, it's $420 per child in addition to the grab and go...

Whoever that lives in a democratic state, and is working for a living, is just plain stupid.

There reasoning behind this is that not everyone can get to to the grab and go. So they should cancel the grab & go if they give this?!

But go reason with a liberal...

not everyone has EBT
They are working to get the P-EBT also to the kids that don't get regular EBT.

Exactly the reasoning behind P-EBT, but then stop the grab & go, don't give double.

P-EBT would be much better then grab n GO, I don't need the school to decide what we should eat

TDA will be issuing the emergency assistance to any SNAP household that did not receive the maximum allowable benefit per month, which is $194 for an individual and $646 for a family of four.

How do you figure $420 a child if max is $646 including this amount?

OTDA is also working with the state Education Department to identify an additional 800,000 children in households that are not receiving Medicaid, SNAP or Temporary Assistance, but are receiving free and reduced-price school meals. These families will be mailed a temporary EBT card along with instructions for activating the card and accessing their assistance.

Additionally, nearly 750,000 low-income individuals and families enrolled SNAP will receive the maximum allowable benefit for May to help them avoid food insecurity. This will mark the third consecutive month all SNAP recipients in New York State have received the maximum benefit.

NY Benefit Amount Per Child: $420 one-time benefit (as long as you are eligible for schools meals)

If you receive SNAP it will automatically be added to your card
If you don't, the process is outlined here https://otda.ny.gov/SNAP-COVID-19/Frequently-Asked-Questions-Pandemic-EBT.asp

The $420 is divided in 4 deposits.
the $68 per child for Mar and $125 pc for Apr is scheduled to be deposited between May 20-31
the deposits for May and Jun will be deposited in the end of June.
If it benefits even just one fellow DDFer, its worth posting it.

"If your family receives Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and/or Temporary Assistance (TA) benefits and you have school-age children (ages 5-18), you will automatically receive P-EBT food benefits for each eligible school-age child in your household. The benefits will automatically be issued to your family’s current EBT card."

How about younger children?

It's meant to replace lunch programs. Children not enrolled in school don't get it because they never get free/reduced lunch.
If you have SNAP most states are giving maximum monthly limits to all recipients.

Not sure what his source is. This is from the NYS site.

They will be issued in two separate payments, to the household’s current EBT card:

First Payment: The combined food benefit amount ($193) for March and April will be available to households that receive SNAP or TA by early June.
Second Payment: The combined benefit amount for May and June ($227) will be available to households that receive SNAP or TA by the end of June.
For families who do not receive SNAP or TA benefits, P-EBT food benefits will be issued over an extended period beginning in late June and concluding in early August.

More from NYS site:

Children ages 3 and 4, who attend pre-kindergarten and who receive free or reduced-price lunch are also eligible to receive P-EBT benefits.

...Young adults with disabilities who are ages 19 through 21 who are still in school and who receive free and reduced-price meals are also eligible to receive P-EBT food benefits

How much will my child/children receive in P-EBT food benefits?
The maximum monthly amounts you may receive for each eligible child in your household are:

Month   Amount
March   $68.00
April   $125.00
May   $119.00
June   $108.00

So, $420 is the maximum amount of P-EBT food benefits that one child could receive for the entire March through June period.
