Good point. Let me give the details. Here they are:
You probably don’t need to for yourself, but why not? It’s definitely not going to hurt you, other than possibly cause a short mild illness. As a side benefit, you’ll probably be slightly more protected and may enjoy potential benefits extended only to vaccinated people.
Getting vaccinated and letting people know about it encourages others who may need it more than you to do so as well. I have been told by several people that they got vaccinated after hearing that I did (someone in my neighborhood who I speak to only rarely told me that although he was initially hesitant both him and his wife got vaccinated after a short conversation we had about my experience!).
People are constantly bombarded with the ridiculous FUD being spread by evil people with a long term and vicious agenda. Most people in our community are familiar with scant true information about vaccines in general and the COVID vaccine in particular, and as a general rule are dismissive of COVID. Therefore, it’s unlikely they’d take the massive perceived risk of taking the vaccine, even if COVID poses a serious threat to them or someone in their household, until and unless they realize that millions of regular people just like them are taking it and are just fine.
