As a person who voted for Bloomberg while I couldn't stand the guy (and knew that he's a liberal and just became a R in order to be able to run against the establishment D), I can fully relate to the above sequence of tweets.

Bloomberg was an EFFECTIVE mayor. I doubt anyone can dispute that. NYC is a huge diverse corporation, and takes lots of skill to run effectively.

However, towards the latter part of his second term he started to shove his Agenda down our collective throats. I don't recall if I actually held my nose and voted for him for his third term, against an even worse choice, or if I ended sitting out that election.

Now, I did hear this morning on the radio a series of audio quotes from Trump regarding his involvement in Russia or whether he ever met Putin. Whenever I hear these kinds of things it brings to mind the (in)famous quote by Clinton (WJ): "it depends what the meaning of 'is' is".

Interesting, but for years I would turn the crock pot on right before shkia. In other words, my cholent was completely raw when Shabbos came in. But in the past year or so, mostly because of my kids, I have been making my cholent earlier and earlier so that they could have some erev shabbos.

Last night I went way out of my box and I started the cholent at midnight! It's edible now.

My wife is skeptical if it will still be good on Shabbos but I told her I would keep adding water and it would be fine.

Any thoughts?

The trick is to have the right amount of Fat/oil and the right temperature. Once the beans absorb water, having the Cholent on for longer won't make a big difference.

You are correct
Keep it on low starting from when you first put it up. Use a cholent bag and make sure there's plenty of water outside the bag before Shabbos (and enough inside as well, but mostly the inside will stay stable once it's fully cooked as long as there's plenty of water outside the bag)

Although my username doesn't suggest that I take it seriously, my trick is to cook it low and slow. I let it bubble, and once the water is just a bit more than covering the Cholent I lower the crock pot so that it stays on a light simmer, you barely see bubbles. Delicious pretty much 100% of the time

I stopped using bags since my Cholent doesn't fill my pot and the top of the bag would melt to the pot (I tried a few different companies, and various amounts of water), regardless that's only supposed to help with clean up. Leaving it on a low simmer with enough water should do the trick IMHO
