Curious if this is indeed true that they are considered equally top (learning wise) to places that don’t. (I don’t know any of these places personally)
Philly is.

This is from what I hear second hand; I had a nephew in the parsha this year.

But who knows how it actually is on the ground. We know how a "shem" can mean absolutely nothing.

Philly is.
I don’t think they have a secular studies program on par with Chofetz Chaim.

I’d be curious to know if any graduate from there would tell you that they received a robust secular education.

I have a son in 2nd grade, and I hope that trend reverts back to having good general studies by the time he's in mesivta.

I think it's very challenging to find teachers

I'm honestly thinking of moving simply to find an elementary school that takes its English seriously enough that kids finish on par with 8th graders from OOT communities. It's embarrassing.

Maybe I'll open my own school🤷‍♂️

Is it more embarrassing than the discrepancies between OOT and Lakewood in לימודי קודש?

As someone who has tons of friends from OOT, they were on par with Lakewood in Limudei Kodesh.

In fact, I've heard that Philly has started to limit Lakewood boys simply because they are so behind in many skills....
Meanwhile they are taking from Modern places like YBH in Passaic.

Philly isn’t turning down boys due to their lack of geography skills lol. They always try to aim for a lot of OOT

This hasn’t been my experience at all. Perhaps depends on what you’re calling OOT.

But maybe for our language skills and some for inability to express any thought clearly in any language at all or mix thereof.

I think the student body is actually interested and sees value in mastering the subjects.

This seems very normal.....

Our town has officially lost its mind.

Do you think there's an audience in Lakewood for an elementary school or mesivta that takes General Studies seriously?

On par with Chofetz Chaim, Torah V’daas or YBH?

I'm honestly thinking of moving simply to find an elementary school that takes its English seriously enough that kids finish on par with 8th graders from OOT communities. It's embarrassing.

Maybe I'll open my own school.
If you live in lkwd, way does your location say Israel??!??

Regarding your question, you shouldn’t be bashing lkwd schools as a whole, as there are elementary schools that have a robust/solid English department, though your child may not get accepted into the school.
Besides, you have to decide if the main thing your looking for in a school is it’s English department or the לימודי קודש, as sometimes (though not always) it’s one or the other.
Also, you should be thinking about where your child will fit in better, have better friends (same type of hashkafos) and walk out after graduating 8th grade as a happy, healthy young man ready [to take on the world!] to enter high school.

I moved and never updated. It's not a great conspiracy.

The bafflement suggests you learnt critical thinking in Lakewood schools...

Which schools have a strong department? That the Hanhala and the rebbeim and thenstudent body are machshav English and it's not viewed as some big game?

I BH have/had kids in boys elementary, boys high school, girls elementary and girls high school in Lakewood.
My boys elementary school has a very decent general studies department and while it does get a little challenging in the upper elementary grades, the hanhala is very on top of it and overall the kids learn. I don't think they graduate at a lower level than the typical Brooklyn yeshivos.
Boys mesivtos are a different story. My experience is limited to one mesivta which is high level in limudei kodesh and has a sort of outsourced  general studies dept. It is totally up to the kid and his parents to opt in or out. The benefit is that for the most part, kids who opt in are interested in gaining the knowledge and take it (semi) seriously.
