[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Will Amex Return Protection take back - shoes that were being tried on but worn outside for 2 minutes?

Whether or not an item has been used is not the issue; it's the condition that they ask about. If they're still in "new" condition and you still have all of the original packaging (in the event that they actually ask you to send them the item), then you're fine. AmEx seems to almost never request the item nowadays, and even back when they did, I don't recall ever seeing any reports that they denied a claim because they decided the item didn't look "new" (correct me if I'm wrong, though). In contrast, I've read posts regarding other credit card companies that DID actually reject a claim after their employees received the sent-back return protection item and judged it to not be in "new" condition. Thankfully, we don't have to deal with that when it comes to AmEx!

My understanding of the Terms and Conditions is that it says that you have to still have the card in good standing in order to use Return Protection, or any of the other card benefits for that matter, which means that cancelling the card or product-changing it to a different card that doesn't offer Return Protection eliminates your ability to use Return Protection on any past purchases. I certainly would like to hear from anyone who has experience to the contrary on this, though!
Anyone know if you are still eligible for return protection if you cancel the card on purchases made prior to the cancellation?
Probably irrelevant now, but I had all cards shut during FR 2 years ago and I was able to file return protection after the cards were closed.

If I pay for part of an item using an Amazon GC and the balance on AMEX Plat, I assume the portion paid by GC isn't covered, but is the amount paid by CC eligible for RP? Or is it only covered if you paid the entire amount on AMEX, so in my case there would be no coverage at all?

Their terms state "The maximum you will be compensated will not exceed the amount charged to the eligible Card Account." So I would interpret that to mean that partial charges are eligible...might be worth a quick call with them to confirm.

Terms state coverage is for items charged "entirely" on eligible card

So Im trying to file for an ebay  purchase and Amex is asking for "Documents showing the condition of the item at the time of purchase".
How do I get my hands on such a document?

How do I link the listing to my purchase?
As far as Amex is concerned I could’ve bought a used and sent a random listing.

Happens to be that’s what I did. Hoping for the best.

Did anyone here have amex request for pics of the item in a rt claim?

Anyone know why they're asking for pics?

I had purchased a stroller about 25 days back on a deal but today received another one of better brand as a gift from our friends. Our baby isn't due till 2 more months, and I was thinking of returning the one I got but the retailer has restocking fee of 20% while the return policy is 60days.

So I was wondering can I file a claim for the return to cover the restocking fee when I have send it back to the retailer or do I have to wait till 60days is over to file a claim ?

There's no need to wait.

So I just have to file file a return protection claim noting that there is a restocking fee for returning even though I still have like 30days more before the retailer return period ends ?

You may want to return the stroller in the mean time, because at the this point Amex will only refund the stocking fee.

Thanks for clearing that! I had assumed that Amex might just refund restocking fee since the return period is still valid but I was more worried if they would reject the claim since the standard return period for 60days is still open.

If a retailer will only give a site credit, but not a refund, does the item qualify for return protection?
