[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Dan wrote several times it's per card, just keep in mind the green cards don't have rp
Source? Pretty sure that AUs have the same protections as the parent card.

question isnt so much if they receive a extra allowance, or if the primary card holder can file a claim under his allowance

If you read a few months back, I asked this same question, and was given the response here that the Gold AU does not have RP. However, if you read further on last fall, I attempted a return using a gold AU card and it was accepted.
It was a small amount.

I have recently submitted larger Gold AU RP claims and will report back if it works or not.

I can confirm, I received $300 RP on an item bought using a gold AU on Schwab Plat account.

Also, a note about going over the $1K on a different card.
In the past I would receive a notice saying something on the order of sorry you are only receiving x of y back due to exceeding $1K.

This time I simply receive a message back saying we are pleased to let you know you are receiving x dollars back, with no explanation.
They are also way off. I was over by $20, but they only gave me $9 back on a $163 item, and $40 back on a $45 claim sent in on the same day.
It makes no sense.

To further complicate this, this is on a account where I had a $300 order date for 12/30/20 but charge date of 1/3/21. So I wasn't sure where that order hit, if it hit my 2020 allotment or 2021.
I had tested this earlier by making a charge that would exceed $1K if the $300 was in 2021. This test claim came back fully paid via RP. So it indicated the 12/30/20 order did in fact hit my 2020 instead of 2021 allotment.

Anyway, what they paid this time on this account makes no sense. If they had gone back this time and thought the 12/30/20 order was for 2021 then I should have received nothing because I already had been over.

It just shows to me, this is something of a manual process, and I think they messed up the calculation since it went over $1k.

OK, hope I didn't stir the bear, but I called in to ask them to explain how I reached the $1K limit. They couldn't figure it out either and they have submitted a complaint.

I submitted a claim & now as I’m signing the papers I realized I messed up the price of each item. It was two items for a total of $80 but split diff than I thought can I just revise the price on the paper or I need to revise my app somehow?

It always has been for me, and I've done a number of claims for new items from eBay. Just make sure that it's not "Open Box", "Refurbished", "Renewed" (which is Amazon's term), etc., nor a "limited edition" or other type of item that's listed on AmEx's list of exclusions.

The condition is not stated on the invoice. How does Amex verify it?

Is there anything to do if I don’t have a receipt for an item, and Amex is asking for it?

You can ask the store if they can re-print it for you
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I had Amex cover a LOST(!) item on the BCP purchased from Ebay open box - No questions asked!
(even though loss protection is not an official benefit of BCP)
